Goji and Longan Tea Recipe for Beauty and Longevity

Benefits of Goji, Da Zao and Longan Tea

The Ingredients

  • Red Dates (Da Zao)- Da Zao (Jujube) is used to tonify the Spleen and Stomach, improving digestion and boosting energy levels. It also nourishes the blood and calms the spirit, helping to alleviate fatigue, and irritability, and promote emotional well-being.

  • Goji Berries (Gou Qi Za)- In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Goji berries are known to nourish the Liver and Kidneys, benefiting vision, promoting vitality, and supporting overall longevity. They are also used to tonify blood and yin, helping to combat fatigue, and dryness, and improve skin health.

  • Lon Gan (Long Yan Rou)- Longan is known to tonify the heart and spleen, nourishing the blood and calming the spirit, making it useful for alleviating insomnia and anxiety. It also supports energy levels and mental clarity by strengthening Qi and promoting vitality.

  • Honey (Feng Mi)- In Traditional Chinese Medicine, honey moistens the lungs and relieves cough, while also nourishing the Spleen and Stomach to improve digestion and reduce dryness. It has a calming effect, making it useful for soothing irritability, and promoting overall balance, and is a great addition to herbal formulas and teas to help harmonize the properties of other herbs.


Red Dates, Longan and Goji Berry Tea

INGREDIENTS

  • 3-5 Red dates ( Da Zao)

  • 1/4 cup Goji berries

  • 10 dried Longan

  • 4 cups of water

  • Optional- Ginger, sliced

PROCEDURE

  1. Remove the pits from the red dates. Then steep red dates in hot water for 15 minutes, let it cool. Drain the herbs and discard the water.

  2. Transfer red dates into a sauce pot. Add in longans. Cover the pot, bring to a boil and simmer for 25 minutes. Add in the goji berries and simmer for another 5 minutes.

  3. Strain the tea. Add sugar (preferably dark brown sugar) if needed. Serve hot, warm, at room temperature or cold.

NOTES

  • Variation: Add one or two ginger slices in Step 2 and simmer together with the red dates and dried longans.

  • It's important to use seedless red dates to reduce the heat of the drink. Longans are also considered warm in nature, so use less or drink less of the tea if you are feeling hot\.
